Three Women's Track & Field Athletes Garner All-Regional Honors

All-Region Teams

NEW ORLEANS – The Ursinus College women's track and field team recorded four All-Metro Region selections among three different student-athletes for the 2025 outdoor season, announced on Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Among the four selections for the Bears were: sophomore Sam Wechsler in the triple and long jump, Kaelin Ryan in the 100-meter hurdles, and first-year Mia Bompensa in the pole vault.

To be named all-region, an athlete must finish either in the top five of an individual event or be part of a top-three relay team.

Wechsler repeated her All-Region selections from a year ago after spearheading the Bear jumpers this Spring. Wechsler won her first career gold medal in the triple jump at the Centennial Conference Championships in early May and fortified her triple jump mark this past week at the AARTFC Championships by recording a career best 11.86 meters. Her mark ranks second in the Metro Region, and she is tied for fourth in the region in the long jump at 5.56 meters. Wechsler had already earned an All-Region nods in both events during the indoor season.

Ryan earned her first career All-Region nod after putting together her best track & field season to date this Spring. Ryan ranked third in the Metro Region for the 100-meter hurdles after recording a career best mark of 14.46 at the Widener Final Qualifier this past Monday. She became the first Ursinus Women's Track & Field Athlete to be named the Centennial outdoor most outstanding track athlete of the Championship meet since Christa Johnson in 2009 behind winning her first career individual gold medal in the 100-meter hurdles.

Bompensa picked up her second All-Region nod in the pole vault for the full track & field season after earning it during the indoor season. She tied for fifth in the metro region behind her career best mark of 3.10 meters set at the Paul Donahue Invitational in mid-April. She finished eighth at the Centennial Conference Championships.
