COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Seniors
Chase Shaneman and
James Sims III along with first-year
Andy Zigbuo claimed gold medals for the Ursinus Men's Track & Field team on day two of the Centennial Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Patterson Field on Saturday.
After two days, the Bears moved into first place with 93 points which is two points ahead of Johns Hopkins at 91 points. The Bears and Blue Jays will once again battle on Sunday for the Centennial Conference outdoor crown.
Shaneman successfully defended his discus title by posting a 46.97 meter toss. Senior
Tom Wood finished sixth with a mark of 41.54 meters and first-year
Noah Sanders was right behind in seventh at 39.59 meters. Sophomore
Liam Janschka finished eighth to gain the Bears a point with his personal best mark of 36.18 meters while classmate
Michael Danter recorded a personal best of 35.08 meters to place 11th and
Carter Kensil tallied a throw of 31.47 meters.
Sims III completed a sweep of the high jump in the Centennial Conference after clearing the bar at 1.93 meters. He will conclude his Ursinus career with three gold medals with two coming in indoor and one on the outdoor. Junior

Jaxon Geddio each cleared the bar at 1.83 meters to finish fourth and fifth, respectively.
Zigbuo wowed the jumps crowd by taking the long jump gold in his Centennial Outdoor Track & Field Championship debut with his personal best mark of 6.87 meters. Junior
Cole Jackson placed 10th in the long jump at 6.33 meters
Senior
Ethan Chambers topped his own decathlon school record set back at the 2023 Centennial Championships with 5,309 points and garnered his second straight Bronze medal for the event. He led the Bears as sophomore
Devon Bock was fifth at 4,851 points, sophomore
Logan Downs was sixth at 4,238 points, senior
Davonte Hinds was ninth at 3,365 points, and junior
Noah Berger was 10th at 3,230 points.
Junior
Aiden Tobin locked up spots in the 100 and 200 meter finals on Saturday as he looks to defend both of those titles. He posted a season best time of 10.84 in the 100 meter prelims and 22.05 in the 200 which were both fourth fastest. He will be joined by Zigbuo in the 100 meters who placed fifth in the prelims on a personal best time of 10.80. The Bears qualified three for the 110-meter hurdle finals led by senior
Devon Greaves, who posted the third fastest time in the prelims on a personal best time of 15.71. Junior
Patrick Ryan was fifth at 16.04 and first-year
Kyle Cummings was sixth at 16.35 that were also personal best times. Greaves and Ryan also qualified for the 400 meter hurdle finals as Greaves was also third while Ryan finished fourth in the prelims. They will be joined by sophomore
Dylan Baer who earned the final spot in eighth on a personal best time of 59.81.
Senior
Christian Rosado posted the fastest time for the Bears in the 800 meters at 1:55.76 and just missed qualifying for the finals. Senior
Jack Fisher and sophomore
Sean Geherty each recorded personal bests as well at 1:59.17 and 2:00.88, respectively.
The 4x800 relay team of Rosado, sophomore
Troy Hedrick, plus seniors
Paul Faggioli and
David Kenny finished fourth overall with their time of 7:48.64.
The Bears will wrap up the Centennial Championships tomorrow, May 4th with the first event going off at 11:00 a.m.
