COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – In their first action in more than a month, the Ursinus men's indoor track and field team returned to competition Sunday at the annual Collegeville Classic inside the Floy Lewis Bakes Center.
Ursinus recorded three of the top four times in the 60-meter hurdles, led by sophomore
Kyle Cummings, who finished second overall with a time of 8.87 seconds. Senior
Patrick Ryan placed third at 8.98, while junior
Dylan Baer was fourth with an 8.99. In the sprints, first-year
Aidan Heppard finished third in the 200 meters with a time of 24.49 seconds, while classmate
Barry Harris placed third in the 300 meters at 38.87.
First-year
Ramon Martinez led five Bears in the 600 meters, winning the event with a time of 1:28.14. Junior
Sean Geherty took second at 1:31.06, while first-year
Nick Sirdashney finished third in 1:32.70. First-years
Dom Cucarese (1:34.07) and
Will Traska (1:36.24) placed fourth and fifth, respectively.
Ursinus repeated the feat in the 1,000 meters as senior
Liam Johnston led the field with a first-place time of 2:38.33. Seniors
Ryan Martin (2:45.30) and
Justice Scheidel (2:49.13) finished second and third, while junior
Logan Downs placed fifth at 3:17.54. In the mile, junior
Dom Nunez won the event in 4:51.02. First-years
Elias Knoll (9:14.43) and
Evan O'Connor (9:27.58) impressed in the 3,000 meters, finishing second and fourth, respectively. The 4x400-meter relay team of Johnston, Martin, Scheidel, and first-year
Alex Balbuena placed first with a time of 3:39.91.
In the field events, senior
Sean Bowers won the pole vault with a mark of 3.95 meters, while first-year
Isaac Lee placed third in the long jump at 5.57 meters. Junior
Carter Kensil closed out the meet by winning the weight throw with a mark of 13.70 meters, with sophomore
Nick Boyle taking second at 11.92. Kensil added his second victory of the day in the shot put, recording a throw of 13.59 meters. Sophomores
Noah Sanders (12.24) and Boyle (11.59) finished second and third, respectively.
The Bears will return to action Saturday, Jan. 31, when they travel to Alvernia University for the PLEX Shootout.
