HAVERFORD, Pa. – In their final meet before Centennial Conference Championships next week, the Ursinus Men's Track & Field team showed well at the Keogh Invitational hosted by Haverford on Friday.
The Bears competed against nine different schools Division III from either the Greater Philadelphia area or the Centennial Conference and one Division I school in Drexel in the meet.
The meet opened on Thursday afternoon as the weight throw was held at the Floy Lewis Bakes Center and the Bears set the tone for the weekend. Sophomore
Noah Sanders continued his tear by besting his own Centennial and school record in the weight throw at 18.13 meters to easily win the event. His throw is the 20
th best weight throw to date in Division III. Junior
Carter Kensil placed third at 13.29 meters, junior
Michael Danter was fifth at 12.34 meters while sophomore
Dante Calcaterra was sixth at 12.16 meters. Kensil also finished runner-up in the shot put at 14.46 meters and was the top Division III thrower in the meet.
The Bears won a pair of jumping events as senior
David Piotrowski led a 1-2 finish in the high jump after clearing the bar at 1.80 meters and classmate
Cole Jackson was in second at the same mark. Jackson turned around and won the triple jump at 12.96 meters. Sophomore
Andy Zigbuo finished fifth in the long jump at 5.39 meters.
In sprints, first-year
Noah Tapler continued his impressive debut campaign by wining the race on his time of 23.08. Junior
Dylan Baer was fourth at 23.66 while first-year
Brayden Davis was ninth at 23.91. Davis led the Bears in the 400 meters at 54.16 while classmate
Jacob Lentz was seventh with a 55.43 and sophomore
Aaron Foy was eighth at 55.77. Zigbuo finished fourth in the 60 meters at 7.12 and first-year
Aidan Heppard rounded out the top-10 with a 7.22. Baer recorded a top-10 in the 60-meter hurdles in eighth at a 9.06.
A pair of Bears recorded top-five finishes in the 800 meters as junior
Troy Hedrick was third on a time of 1:59.20 and senior
Liam Johnston was fourth on a 2:00.05.
The Bears begin competition at the 2026 Centennial Conference Indoor Championships which will be hosted by Franklin & Marshall. First competition begins Saturday, February 28th at 10:30 a.m.
