COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Two members of the Ursinus College women's basketball team earned All-Centennial Conference honors, the conference office announced Wednesday morning.
Senior guard
Ava Possenti became just the second Bear in program history to be named Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Year, joining Aliyah Stevens (2020). She also earned second-team All-Centennial honors, while senior forward
Madison Smith repeated as an honorable mention selection.
Possenti started all 27 games for the Bears this season, leading the Centennial Conference in steals per game (4.81), which ranked third in Division III. Her 12.6 points per game ranked second on the team and 10th in the conference. She led Ursinus with a 42.1% field goal percentage and ranked second on the team with 4.7 rebounds per game and 2.7 assists per contest.
The Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania, native recorded 14 games with five or more steals, including a career-high 10 steals in Centennial Conference contests against Muhlenberg and Gettysburg. She set a career high with 28 points, five steals and six rebounds in the Bears' road victory over Washington College on January 10. Her 130 steals this season reset the program's single-season record, ranked third in Division III, and led the Centennial Conference for the second consecutive year. Against Johns Hopkins on February 7th, Possenti tallied seven steals to break the Ursinus career record of 275, surpassing Megan Larkin's mark set in 1998. She now holds the program record with 297 steals in her three-year career in Collegeville.
Smith garnered her second straight All-Centennial selection after earning honorable mention honors last season. Her team-leading 13.9 points per game ranked seventh in the conference and she paced the Bears with 6.5 rebounds per contest. She ranked second on the team with a 41.0% field goal percentage and became the 18th player in Ursinus women's basketball history to surpass the 1,000-point milestone.
The Philadelphia, Pennsylvania native recorded 22 double-figure scoring performances, including a career-high 26 points with six rebounds against No. 4 Johns Hopkins on February 7th. Smith posted two double-doubles this season, highlighted by a 25-point, 12-rebound performance in the Bears' 80-52 victory over Haverford College. She started 86 games during her career and is ranked 16th all-time with 1,018 career points.
Senior guard
Makenna Foder represented Ursinus on the All-Sportsmanship Team. Foder led the Bears in assists in each of the last two seasons and will finish her career ninth all-time in program history with 228 assists.
