ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Ursinus Women's Tennis team bested Muhlenberg 5-2 on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference action.
The Bears won two of the three doubles matches to gain the first point. Senior Bella Vasslluzzo and junior
Caroline Daly bested Caitlin Bestrycki and Charley Madlock 6-2 at No. 1 singles and sophomore
Katie Yu and first-year
Sara Steelesmith won a 6-2 No. 3 match over Taylor Current and Ella Pomeranz. Senior
Kate Rubinkam and junior
Morgan Coupe suffered a 6-3 setback at No. 2 doubles to Sydney Madlock and Kety Gaidamashvili.
Coupe opened singles play by besting Gaidamashvili 6-0, 7-5 at the No. 3 spot and Yu lost a tough 6-1, 2-6, 0-6 No. 1 match to Madlock. Rubinkam took down Alexandra Roehl 6-4, 6-1 at No. 5 singles and Vassalluzzo was bested 4-6, 5-7 by Charley Madlock. Daly locked up the match for the Bears with a 5-7, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) No. 2 singles win over Bestrycki and Steelesmith bested Downey 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.
The Bears return to action on Tuesday, April 21st as they will host Washington College at 3:30 p.m.
