GETTYSBURG, Pa. – First-year
Noah Tapler claimed the Ursinus Men's Track & Field team's first gold medal of the weekend on day two of the Centennial Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Gettysburg on Saturday.
After two days, the Bears maintained their second place in the team standings at 67.5 points while Johns Hopkins leads at 84 points.
Tapler highlighted the Bears Saturday by winning his first gold medal as he became the long jump champion at the Centennial Championships on his personal best mark of 6.78 meters. He retained the outdoor long jump gold in Collegeville after
Andy Zigbuo claimed the first Ursinus Men's gold in the event last year. Tapler also locked up spots in the 100- and 200-meter finals tomorrow afternoon after placing fourth in the 100 meters on a personal best time of 10.94 and seventh in the 200 meters on his time of 22.40.
The Bears claimed a pair of bronze medals on Saturday as well as sophomore
Noah Sanders picked up his second medal of the weekend in the discus on his throw of 41.37 meters and senior
Cole Jackson earned his first career medal in the high jump on his personal best jump of 1.88 meters.
Junior
Jaxon Geddio followed Jackson in the high jump in fourth after clearing the bar at 1.83 meters and senior
David Piotrowski was next in fifth on the same mark. Senior
Markel Roberts-Jackson finished seventh on his mark of 1.73 meters. First-year
Isaac Lee made his Centennial Championship debut in the long jump and finished 15th on his mark of 5.35 meters. Junior
Carter Kensil finished 11th in the discus at 36.27 meters, junior
Liam Janschka was 13th at 35.74 meters, and junior
Michael Danter had a throw of 32.52 meters.
A trio of Bears competed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and senior
Ryan Martin finished fourth on his time of 10:01.00 to lead the group. Sophomore
Aidan Furtek placed ninth on his season best time of 10:29.77 and first-year
Nick Sirdashney was 10th on a personal best time of 10:35.98.
Senior
Aiden Tobin locked up finalist spots in the 100- and 200-meter finals on Sunday in his final Centennial Championship meet. He was second in both prelim events on his season best time of 10.79 in the 100 and 22.04 in the 200. Junior
James Long-Stratton narrowly missed joining Tobin and Tapler in both finals as he finished ninth in the 200 at 22.56 and 10th in the 100 at 11.25. First-year
Bryson Sacher punched his ticket to both hurdle event finals as he finished second in the 400-meter hurdle prelims on a season best time of 56.59 and fifth in the 110-meter hurdles on a personal best time of 15.84. Senior
Patrick Ryan will join Sacher in the 400 hurdle finals on a personal best time of 57.43 and narrowly missed the 110 finals by finishing ninth on a time of 16.11.

Aidan Heppard on a time of 11.41 who narrowly finished ahead of senior
Eddie Weick in 15th. Sophomore
Kyren Young posted a time of 11.42 in 17th in the 100 and 23.25 in the 200 to place 18th. Weick recorded a personal best time of 23.57 in the 200 and junior
Dylan Baer finished ninth in the 400-meter hurdles at 58.02. Sophomore
Kyle Cummings was 11th in the 400 hurdles prelims at 58.48, first-year
Jacob Lentz was 13th on a personal best time of 59.12, and senior
Ethan Staurowsky was 14th in the 110 hurdles on his time of 19.13 and 20th in the 400 hurdles on a time of 1:03.48, both personal bests. Davis also competed in the 400 meters prelims and finished 13th on a time of 51.33.
First-year
Ramon Martinez finished ninth in the 800 meters prelims on a personal best time of 1:55.16 and junior
Troy Hedrick was 10th at 1:55.63. Junior
Devon Bock completed the decathlon in fifth with a total of 4,617 points.
The 4x800 relay team of first-year
Elias Knoll, senior
Liam Johnston, Hedrick, and Martinez finished fifth on a time of 7:57.32.
The Bears will wrap up the Centennial Championships tomorrow, May 3rd with the first event going off at 11:00 a.m.
