ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Trailing 5-2 at halftime, Muhlenberg
forced an extra period by scoring with one second left in the
fourth quarter.
The Mules (5-8, 4-4 Centennial) then scored with just nine ticks
left in the first overtime in an 8-7 win over Ursinus (6-9, 2-6
Centennial) on a blazing hot Saturday afternoon in Allentown.
Andrew Lolley, who assisted on the goal that sent the match to
overtime, scored the game-winning goal with nine seconds left in
overtime for the win.
Ursinus darted out to a 5-1 lead with 9:31 left to go in the second
quarter as freshman midfielder Jeff Ocampo (Palm Coast,
FL/Mantanzas) scored his second goal of the game
unassisted. Ocampo finished with a team-high four goals on the
afternoon along with one assist.
After the Mules scored with 8:34 left in the third quarter to cut
the Bears lead to 5-3, Ursinus went back up 6-3 on an extra man
goal by Ocampo, which was assisted by freshman midfielder
David Kraus (Madison, CT/Daniel Hand).
Muhlenberg would then score three straight goals to tie the score
at 6-all with 8:18 left, before Ocampo scored with 56 seconds left
in the fourth unassisted to give Ursinus a 7-6 lead.
Ari Jacobson then scored on the Lolley assist with just one second
left in the fourth to force overtime.
Junior attack Eric Farris (Pottstown,
PA/Pottsgrove), junior attack Pat Nagle (Stony
Brook, NY/Ward Melville) and sophomore Pat Gillen
(Merrick, NY/Calhoun) also had goals on the day for
Ursinus, while sophomore midfielder Tony Ubertaccio (Green
Village, NY/Delbarton) also added in an assist.
Sophomore midfielder Graig Gallo (Winter Springs, FL/Winter
Springs), who also had a team-high six groundballs, was 10-for-15
on faceoffs on the day.
Senior goalkeeper Tony Aquilino (Abington, PA/Archbishop
Wood) had 19 saves on the afternoon in his final match for
Ursinus. Also playing in their final match for the Bears were
senior long stick midfielder Derrin Mangin (Willow Grove,
PA/Archbishop Wood), senior attack Jason Orlando
(Morton, PA/Springfield), senior attack Brian
Boorse (Center Valley, PA/Southern Lehigh) and senior
midfielder Ian Jordan (Media, PA/Penncrest).
