LIMERICK, Pa. – Senior
Elliot Schott earned a top-ten finish leading the Ursinus College women's golf team to a third-place finish at their annual Ursinus Fall Invitational on Thursday afternoon.
Lebanon Valley College won the team title, recording a final score of 361 (+73), Kean University (426) placed second, Ursinus (433) ranked third, and Eastern University (486) rounded out the four-team field. Swarthmore's Ava Chon won the individual title behind a final score of 81 (+9).
Four Bears competed at the Turtle Creek Golf Course, a par-72 course that stretches over 5,694-yards. Schott paced the Bears lineup and recorded a career-low score of 102, besting her previously low of 103 at the Ursinus Spring Invite in March 2023 at the Manor Golf Course. She tied for seventh overall and tallied four pars throughout her round including on back-to-back holes on the par-4 seventh and par-5 eighth. Schott signed for a 12-over 48 on the front nine before closing out her round with a 54 over the final nine holes. Sophomore
McKenzi Thompson tied for 11th place signing for a 104 (+32). Thompson recorded a 52 on each side of the clubhouse and her day was highlighted by earning par on the par-4 seventh hole.
Junior
Payton Fritz shot a 110 ranking third on the team and placing 15th overall. She tallied a 54 over the first nine hole, before closing out her round with a 56 over the final nine holes. Classmate
Lucy Bamford tallied five bogeys over her round and placed tied for 17th overall. Bamford recorded a career-low score of 117, topping her previous best of 129 at the Battle of Berkleigh to open this season.
The Bears wrap up their fall season slate and are scheduled to return to action on Thursday, April 10th as the Ursinus Spring Classic.
