Women's Golf Opens Spring Slate at Ursinus Quad Meet

LIMERICK, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's golf team opened its spring schedule with a fourth-place finish at a quad meet against Eastern University, Goucher College and Muhlenberg College on Friday afternoon.
 
Four Bears competed at Turtle Creek Golf Course, a par-72 layout that stretches 5,827 yards. Goucher won the meet with a team score of 392, while Eastern placed second at 400. Muhlenberg (449) finished third and Ursinus (458) took fourth in their spring debut.
 
Junior Sophia Cooper led the Bears by tying for eighth overall with a 107. Her round featured three pars, including on the par-5 second and par-3 third holes. Cooper carded a 52 on the front nine before finishing with a 55 on the back nine.
 
Senior Payton Fritz placed 10th overall with a 42-over 114. She shot a 59 on the front nine and recorded a par on the par-4 16th hole en route to a 55 over the final nine holes.
 
Junior McKenzie Thompson tied for 12th with a 118 in her spring debut. She posted three bogeys on the front nine and added a par on the par-4 16th to close out her round.
 
Senior Lucy Bamford rounded out the lineup, finishing 14th with a 119.
 
Ursinus returns to action Sunday at a quad meet against Kean University, Muhlenberg, and Stockton University at Turtle Creek, beginning at 2 p.m.
