WAYNESBORO, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's golf team opened the Centennial Conference Championship weekend by finishing sixth after the first day of competition on Saturday afternoon.
Four Bears competed at the Waynesboro Country Club, a par-72 course that measures 5,607 yards. Ursinus posted a team score of 448 and sits sixth in the standings. Marymount leads the field with a score of 332, followed by Gettysburg College (335) in second. Franklin & Marshall (371) is third, with McDaniel College (401) and Dickinson College (426) rounding out the top five.
Sophomore
Sophia Cooper leads the Bears, tied for 22nd after shooting a 108. She bogeyed two of the first four holes, then birdied the par-4 sixth and closed the front nine with a 51. Cooper added three bogeys on the back nine, carded a 57, and sits one shot outside the top 20.
Senior
Elliot Schott sits in 27th after carding a 112. She recorded four bogeys and shot 56 on both the front and back nine holes. Junior
Payton Fritz is one shot back in 28th signing for a 113, including a 52 on the front nine and a 61 on the back. She also tallied four bogeys on the front nine.
Sophomore
McKenzi Thompson rounded out the lineup with a 115, placing her 30th. She shot a 59 on the front nine and a 56 on the back, with four bogeys over her final nine holes.
The Bears will conclude the final round of competition Sunday morning at Waynesboro Country Club. The first tee time is scheduled for 9:36 a.m.
