COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus Gymnastics coach
Kim Valenti announced recent updates to her coaching staff prior to the start of the 2025 season.
Valenti will once again be assisted by
Brooke Hylek for a third season and
Alyssa DeLorme '23 will return as well for a second season. Senior
Mayleigh Rickey will join Valenti's staff as a student assistant for the 2025 season.
Rickey, a Florence, Kentucky native, specialized in beam and bars over the past three seasons as a member of the Bears Gymnastics team, and this season, she will primarily assist with bars while playing a key role in choreography for both floor and beam. She will also be integral in the team's social media presence. Rickey brings leadership and passion to the program. Her dedication was honored last season when she received the "7th Woman Award," reflecting her teammates' admiration for her heart, passion, and commitment to the team. The love for gymnastics runs in the family as Rickey's younger sister, Breelyn Rickey, is starting her own gymnastics journey as a first-year student-athlete at Ball State University.
DeLorme returns for a second season on Valenti's staff after making an instant impact during the 2024 season after a decorated academic and athletic career as a student-athlete at Ursinus. DeLorme was instrumental in coaching
Kylie Ruggiero and
Erin Roe to qualify for the 2024 NCGA National Championship meet held at Ursinus. Ruggiero bested DeLorme's uneven bars school record at the NCGA East Regional Championships to qualify for the National Championship. Alyssa, a North Carolina native, graduated Summa Cum Laude as the class Salutatorian in 2023 with a B.S. in Health and Exercise Physiology. She also works part-time at a local club, Aerials Gymnastics, and at Jefferson Moss Magee Rehab as a PT Aide. DeLorme previously coached at Woodward Camp (PA) and her home club, Morgan's Gymnastics Academy (NC).
Hylek has been integral to Valenti's staff in the past two seasons as she has helped coach five student-athletes to earn bids in the last two NCGA Championship meets. Three of the athletes earned individual bids on the vault and one of those athletes,
Erin Roe, set the Bears vault record back at Temple in February of 2024 in her first year on the team. Hylek's work on the vault helped the Bears consistently score high as a team on the event. She has also been helping program partner with Team IMPACT, a non-profit matches children facing serious illness and disability with matches children facing serious illness and disability with college sports teams, creating a long-term, life-changing experience for everyone involved.
Valenti begins her seventh season as the head coach for Ursinus Gymnastics in 2025. Valenti helped guide two gymnasts to qualify for the 2024 NCGA National Championships that was hosted at Ursinus College.
Erin Roe qualified on the vault while
Kylie Ruggiero completed a tremendous comeback story by qualifying on the bars behind setting a school record at the NCGA East Regionals. As a team, the Bears were consistent all season and scored over 190 as a team three times, which included a 191.350 at Brockport that was the highest team score since 2017. Valenti has seen the Bears National Qualifying Score (NQS) rise steadily since her first season coaching in 2019 as they posted a NQS of 189.79 compared to 184.37 in 2019.
