Football Earns At-Large Bid to NCAA Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Ursinus Football team learned Sunday evening that they have received an at-large bid to the 2024 NCAA Division III Football Tournament. The Bears will travel to face King's College at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 23rd.

The winner of Ursinus/King's will travel to face New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) champion Salisbury in the second round of the tournament on Saturday, November 30th.

Ursinus will face the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Champion King's in the first round. This is the first time since the 1999 season that the Bears have earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament. The Bears defeated Bridgewater State 43-38 that season in the first round before falling to Rowan in the second round.

King's currently holds a 9-1 overall record behind a nine-game winning streak since dropping its home opener to crosstown rival Wilkes. The Monarchs went a perfect 9-0 in MAC play this season to win its first Conference title since 2002.

This will be the third all-time meeting between the two schools which have both been postseason contests. King's won the first meeting 45-20 in the 2000 ECAC South Region Bowl Game before the Bears won the 2022 Centennial-MAC Bowl Series Meeting 24-13 in Wilkes-Barre.

The Bears will be making their 3rd overall appearance in the Division III Tournament after making their debut appearance in 1997. Ursinus completed a 9-1 overall season for the first time since 1999 and finished second in the Centennial Conference standings behind a 5-1 mark. The Bears earned one of the 12 At-Large Berths to the Tournament in the first year of the expanded field.
