COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus Head Football Coach Pete Gallagher has announced the following staff updates prior to the start of the 2026 season.
Following the departure of Steve Devlin to become the next Head Coach at Alvernia,
Ryan DiVergilis has been promoted to defensive coordinator along with coaching the defensive backs. Current Co-Offensive Coordinator,
Jeff Endy, has been elevated to associate head coach as well. In addition, three new hires to Gallagher's staff have been made as
Ben Bruni will be the next defensive line coach and alums
Brett Capobianco '20 and
Tim McNally '24 have joined the staff.
DiVergilis '24 initially returned to his Alma Mater as Defensive Backs Coach for the 2025 Ursinus football season and will take over Devlin's role as defensive coordinator. DiVergilis helped coach safety
Nick Strusowski to lead the Centennial Conference in interceptions and become a Walter Camp Division III All-American. DiVergilis was a three-time All-Centennial First Team selection at safety which was the fifth time in Ursinus Football program history achieved that feat. He was an All-Centennial pick in all four seasons on the team and he capped his career with a D3football.com All-Region 2 Second Team Honors in 2024.
Bruni comes to Collegeville after serving a five-year coaching stint at his alma mater of St. Francis (PA). He served as the program's linebackers coach and helped the defense rank among the top in the Northeast Conference (NEC). As a student-athlete, Bruni appeared in 44 games in a Saint Francis career that spanned from 2015-18, amassing 231 tackles - including 131 solo - and 8.5 sacks. His 89 tackles as a senior in 2018 led the team, while his four fumble recoveries were tied for first in FCS. Bruni was a second-team All-NEC honoree in his senior year in 2018 and played in all 12 games of Saint Francis' NEC Championship season in 2016.Bruni graduated from Saint Francis in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts in History.
Capobianco '20 played three seasons at linebacker for the Bears after transferring from St. Vincent College following his freshman season. The Collegeville native appeared in 24 games for Ursinus and tallied 80 career tackles (39 solo), two sacks, and one fumble returned for a touchdown. Capobianco earned his bachelor's degree in Education.
McNally '24 appeared in 18 games for the Bears on the offensive line and made a career-high seven starts at left guard during his senior season of 2023. He earned his bachelor's degree in media and communication studies.
The Bears will open their 2026 season at home on Friday night, September 4th against Delaware Valley at 7:00 p.m.
