The Ursinus Bears Football Team will host Gettysburg in their final home game of the regular season.

Last Saturday, the Ursinus football team earned a 42-0 shutout win over McDaniel. The Bears finally broke a scoreless tie just before halftime but had the control of the game entire time with its defense. Ursinus added two more touchdowns in the third quarter to go up 21-0 with one being a defensive score. The Bears closed the game with three touchdowns in the fourth quarter to put the finishing touches on the game. Ursinus held the Green Terror to just 61 yards of total offense behind limiting them to -14 rushing yards. The Bears also held McDaniel to just five total first downs in the game.

Meanwhile, the Bullets dropped a 34-14 contest to Dickinson this past Saturday. After an exchange of punts early on, Gettysburg put together a 10-play drive for the game's first score in the waning seconds of the first quarter. Dickinson ultimately took control of the game with a 20-point second quarter while adding two more scores in the third quarter to put on the finishing touches.

LAST MEETING: The Bears won a high-scoring 48-35 game last season at Gettysburg. The Bears used a 28-point second quarter to go up 35-7 in the half. The Bullets rallied fast by scoring 21-straight points of their own to make things interesting at 35-28 in the third quarter before Ursinus slammed the door on the rally with two more touchdowns in the second half.

THANK YOU SENIORS: Prior to Saturday's contest, the Ursinus football team will honor its 25 seniors in part of senior day ceremonies. Julian Jones, J.C. Rizzuto Jr., Steve DeCecco, Caden Johnson, Ryan Emmerich, Joseph Small, Cameron Dennis, Jalen Bradford, Sean Connelly, Marc Clayton, Justin Collier, Tommy Quinn, Anthony Esposito, Tony Holden, Michael D'Amico, Connor Carter, Aaron Anderson, Jaden Goldglantz, Pat McManus, Ryan DiVergilis, Nicholas Iulo, Devin Cope, Michael McCuen, Trey Williams and Jack Hildebrand make up the class that has won 30 games, nine wins in 2022 which was the most single-season wins since 1999, and qualified for three Centennial-MAC Bowl Series games and have won two of them. The 30 wins are the most by a four-year group in the history of the Ursinus program. The team thanks the class for its hard work and dedication to the program and wishes them nothing but the best in its future endeavors.

BREAKOUT SHOWING: Sophomore running back Jason Bernard powered the Bears run game against McDaniel last Saturday. He tallied the first 100+ yard game of his career with 128 and averaged 5.6 yards per game. Bernard is up to 333 yards this season and Ursinus has had a running back reach 100 yards in  all but one game this season.

GOING FOR THE RECORD: Senior wide receiver Justin Collier recorded his first 100-yard receiving game of the 2024 season against McDaniel this past Saturday. Collier had 115 yards on five catches while grabbing two touchdowns as well and he tied the Bears all-time receiving touchdown record of 23 that was once held by Nick Giarratano. Collier leads the team with seven touchdown receptions and 540 yard which is just shy of his career high total of 605 set last season.. He is also up to 1,546 receiving yards for his career which currently places him eighth all time in program history.

ALL OVER THE FIELD: Senior safety Pat McManus did a little of everything for the Bears against McDaniel this past Saturday. McManus led the Bears on defense in the team's 42-0 shutout of McDaniel on Saturday. He posted a team-high seven tackles (five solo), 3.5 TFL, and one sack. He also forced a fumble in the endzone that caused an Ursinus touchdown. McManus has started in every game for the Bears in each of the past two seasons at safety and ranks fourth on the team with 42 tackles and third with 7.5 tackles for loss.

YOU GO JOE: Senior safety Joseph Small hauled in two interceptions against McDaniel this past Saturday. Small was the first Bear since Aaron Anderson in 2021 against Muhlenberg to have a multi-interception game. For his career, Small has three interceptions and has started in every game this season for Ursinus. Small's first collegiate interception, coincidentally, came against McDaniel during the 2023 season.

Bradford moved into second place all-time in Bears history with 47 touchdown passes and trails only Jack Psenicska with 65.
