LEBANON, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's golf team opened their spring season by placing 14th at the Lebanon Valley Spring Invitational on Monday afternoon from the Lebanon Country Club.
Five Bears competed on the day at the Lebanon Country Club, a par-72 course that stretches over 6,562-yards. Ursinus landed on a team score of 348 (14
th,+60), which ranked just seven shots shy from their score at LVC Fall Invitational on October 23rd. Albright College and Hood College (311, +23) tied for the team title with Scranton placing third (316), Moravian (324) landed in fourth place, and Catholic University rounded out the top-five with a team tally of 326.
Senior
Billy Cardino paced the Bears lineup with a top-10 finish, tying for ninth overall signing for a six over 78. He shined through the first nine holes finishing with a 37 (+1) before ending his round with a 41 (+5) over the final nine holes. Cardino opened with pars on eight of his nine holes while closing out his day with four consecutive pars from hole 15 through 18.
Sophomore
Jimmy Cage collected a tied for 58th finish by tallying an 87 (+15). His day was highlighted by a birdie on the par-3 ninth hole that stretches over 185-yards. Cage was consistent throughout his round finishing with a 43 on the front nine and a 44 over the last nine holes.
Senior
Evan Coffey tied for 71st overall after recording a 91 (+19) with his round being highlighted by a 43 (+7) over the final nine holes. Coffey's day was highlighted by earning a birdie on the par-4 18th hole that stretches over 436-yards.
First-years
Logan Jones and
Brandon Mongan rounded out the five Bears' competing by finishing 77th and tied for 79th, respectively. Jones shot a 92 in his spring debut behind tallying four pars, while Mongan signed for a 94 after shooting a 46 over the first nine holes and a 48 after the turn. Mongan's day was highlighted by a birdie on the par-3 ninth holes which stretches 185-yards.
The Bears return to action on Wednesday as they travel to Wernersville, Pennsylvania for the Albright Spring Invitational at the Galen Hall Golf Club.
