COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's golf team fielded two teams today competing at the Dickinson College Invite and MAC Preview Tournament on Sunday afternoon.
A total of ten student-athletes competed between the Carlisle Barracks Golf Course and Golden Oaks Golf Club with the Bears totaling team scores of 329 and 366, respectively. Each squad earned 10th place finishes at their respective tournaments.
Dickinson College Invite (10th of 13 – 329)
Five Bears competed at the Carlisle Barracks Golf Course, a par-72 course that stretches over 6,670 yards. Swarthmore College won the team title scoring a 290 (+2), while Goucher College (298, +10) placed second, and Catholic (301, +13) rounded out the top three teams.
Senior
Nick Troha paced the Bears lineup finishing tied for 20th overall and signed for a six-over 78. He finished one shot shy of his season best score of 77, which occurred at the Northeast Shootout last week. Sophomore
Jimmy Cage tallied a career low during his round finishing with an 81 to earn a tied for 38th place finish.
Senior
Evan Coffey finished tied for 52nd overall after closing out his round with a 12-over 84. Just behind Coffey, first-year
Brandon Mongan added a 55th place finish signing for an 86. Senior
Billy Cardino rounded out the five Bears competing by placing tied for 63rd with a final score of 93 (+21).
MAC Championships Preview (10th of 10 – 366) - Hosted by Albright College
Five Bears competed at the Golden Oaks Golf Club, a par-72 course that stretches over 6,492-yards. York College won the team title behind a final tally of 296, while Elizabethtown (302) placed second, and Alvernia University (305) rounded out the top-three squads.
First-year
Trevor Maden made his season debut for the Bears and turned in the team lowest score by carding a 16-over 88. Senior
Griffin Geib and sophomore
Slade Figard tied for second on the team signing for a 90. First-year
Logan Jones recorded a season-low score of 90, topping his previous best of 92 which was set back on March 25th at the Lebanon Valley Invitational. Junior
Patrick Esemplare rounded out the competitors by totaling a 106 in his season debut.
The Bears will return to action on Monday, April 15th as they compete at the Bent Creek Country Club for the Franklin & Marshall Spring Invitational.
