LANCASTER, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's golf earned a 13th place finish at the Franklin & Marshall Spring Invitational on Monday afternoon.
Five Bears competed at the Bent Creek Golf Course, a par-71 course that stretches over 6,093-yards. Franklin & Marshall's "Blue Team" won the team title shooting a two-under 282, while Stevenson and Catholic tied for second place with a final tally of 297. Drew University (299, +15) placed fourth and Franklin & Marshall's "White" Team rounded out the top five (305, +21).
First-year
Brandon Mongan paced the Bears lineup firing an 18-over 89 to earn a tied for 52nd finish. Mongan totaled nine pars throughout his round including six straight pars from holes nine through 14. He closed out his final nine holes with a five-over 41 which ranked best on the team.
Sophomore
Jimmy Cage finished just behind Mongan in a tie for 54th behind a final round score of 90. Cage was consistent throughout his round finishing with a 45 on each side of the clubhouse and recording five pars throughout his round.
Coming off his season low score of 90 at the MAC Preview Tournament yesterday, first-year
Logan Jones placed 63rd today signing for a 27-over 98. Jones collected bogies on five of his first six holes, while closing out the opening nine holes with a 47.
Senior
Michael Nikolaou made his season debut today by finishing 66th overall and turning in his scorecard for a 103. Teammate Pat Esemplare rounded out the five Bears competing in 67th-place behind a final score of 107.
The Bears will return to action on Thursday, April 18th as they compete at the Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort.
