Men's Golf Places 10th in Regular Season Finale

SHAWNEE on the DELAWARE, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's golf team recorded their second-lowest score of the season resulting in a 10th place finish at the Conquer The Island tournament hosted by Drew University on Thursday afternoon.
 

Five Bears competed at the Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort; a par-72 course that stretches over 6,725-yards. Moravian University won the team title with a total tally of 293 (+5), while Drew University's "B-Team" (296, +8) placed second, and Drew University's "A-Team" (301, +13) tied for third place. Scranton University (301, +13) also tied for third while Eastern University rounded out the top five with a final team tally of 309 (+21).

 
Senior Evan Coffey led the way for the Bears, finishing tied for 45th carding a 10-over 82. He opened with a bogey on the par-4 10th hole, before bouncing back with three pars over the next six holes. On the par-3 16th hole, Coffey tallied the Bears' lone birdie on the day while ending his back nine with a score of 6-over 42. After the turn, Coffey recorded four pars over his next five holes and closed out his last nine holes with a 4-over 40.

 
Senior Nick Troha closed out his round signing for a 13-over 85 ranking tied for 54th overall. He started his round on hole nine and settled in after the turn tallying three consecutive pars from holes 10 through 12. Troha totaled seven pars on the day and ended his front nine with a 5-over 41.

 
Senior Billy Cardino shot a 17-over 89 finishing tied for 67th overall while collecting five pars during his round. He signed for an 8-over 44 on the front nine and closed out his day with a 9-over 45. First-year Brandon Mongan placed 72nd overall, totaling six pars throughout his round including earning par on three of the five par-5's. Sophomore Jimmy Cage rounded out the five Bears competing by placing 76th after signing for a 100 (+28).
 
 
The Bears return to action on Friday, April 26th as they open play at the Centennial Conference Championships held at the Waynesboro Country Club.
