WILMINGTON, DEL. – Behind a two-round score of 680, the Ursinus College men's golf team currently sits in 10th place of the team standings at the Northeast Shootout, hosted by Swarthmore College on Monday.
Five Bears competed through two rounds at the DuPont Country Club, a par-71 course that stretches over 6,763 yards. Hamiliton College (579, +11) currently is the leader in the standings, while Farmingdale College (582, +14), and Swarthmore College (587, +19) round out the top-three scores. The Bears (680, +112) combined for a first-round score of 342 before closing out the first day of competition with a 338 to sit in 10th place overall.
Senior
Nick Troha currently leads the Bears' lineup ranked 33rd overall behind a career-low second round score of 77. Troha's previous season low was an 82 which occurred at the Turtle Creek Intercollegiate in which he tied in his opening round today combining for a 159. He recorded three birdies during his second round including on the par-4 13th and 16th holes to closed out the back nine with a one-over 36.
Senior
Evan Coffey sits in 49th place after totaling a 167-overall signing for an 87 in his first round and an 80 during his second time through. During his second round, Coffey tallied birdies on the par-3 8th and par-3 14th holes, while improving by seven shots between the two rounds.
Sophomore
Jimmy Cage also recorded a season-low score of 83 during his opening round and signed for a 90 after his second-round performance to land on a total of 173. Cage collected a birdie during each round while tallying 15 pars throughout his two rounds of competition.
First-year
Brandon Mongan was consistent throughout his two rounds finishing with a 181 overall behind totaling a 90 and 91. He currently ranks 61st in the field and his day was highlighted by earning three consecutive pars from holes 16 through 18 in his second round. Senior
Billy Cardino ranks 63rd overall after signing for a 93 and a 91, respectively finishing with a total of 184.
The Bears return to the links tomorrow at 10 a.m. as they compete in the third round of the D3 Shootout hosted by the DuPont Country Club.
