LANCASTER, Pa. – Five Ursinus Softball student-athletes were named to the All-Centennial Conference Team, announced by the league on Monday morning.
Junior
Samantha Mallen and senior
Sara Sullivan were selected to the first team while
Maddie Solow plus sophomore
Kayla Carr earned second team, and sophomore pitcher
Christa Andrusiewicz garnered honorable mention status. In addition, Mallen earned the Centennial Conference Gold Glove Award given out to the most outstanding player on defense. It was the first time a Bear had earned the award since its creation in the 2018 season.
Mallen was the sparkplug to the Bears lineup both at the plate and in the field as she led the team and ranked third in the Centennial Conference with a .419 batting average. She ranked second in the Centennial by matching her career best with 57 hits and eclipsed the 100-career hit plateau in early March down in Florida. Mallen ranked third in the Centennial Conference with 36 runs scored, drove in 14 RBIs, and maintained her status as one of the most feared base stealers in the league with 26 stolen bases on 28 attempts. She also became the Bears all-time leading base stealer in late March and posted a .948 fielding percentage in her first full season at shortstop.
Sullivan added a second straight first team All-Centennial honor to her name after another strong season at the plate. She ranked third on the team with a .351 batting average but led the team with a .378 batting average in Centennial Conference games. Sullivan ranked third on the team with 16 RBIs plus 17 runs scored, fourth on the team with 39 hits, and tied for third on the team with five doubles. She also went a perfect 7-of-7 in stolen base attempts.
Solow put together her best statistical season in Collegeville to wrap up her career and earned All-Centennial honors for the first time. She recorded career-highs with 40 hits that ranked third on the team, 19 RBIs which ranked second, 24 runs scored that also ranked second on the team and nine doubles which was also good for second best on the team. Solow recorded a career best .328 batting average and 13 multi-hit contests which included three straight in late April while being outstanding in centerfield for the Bears after coming up with multiple run-saving catches.
Carr powered the Bears offense in 2024 as she earned her first All-Centennial honor at the designated player spot. She led the Centennial Conference with 16 doubles which also set a single-season Bears record and ranked fourth on the team with a .339 batting average. She ranked second on the team with 42 hits and ranked third in the Centennial Conference with 33 RBI's. Carr scored 11 runs and recorded 14 multi-hit contests with seven of them coming in conference games.
Andrusiewicz took home her second straight All-Centennial nod after maintaining the lead of the Bears pitching staff. She led the team with seven wins in 2024 and a 3.35 ERA and a 2.89 ERA in Centennial Conference games that ranked ninth in the league. Andrusiewicz ranked third in the Centennial with 121.1 innings pitched and tied for fourth with nine complete games. She also led the team with 35 strikeouts.
Sophomore
Jessica Pizzo was the Bears representative on the All-Sportsmanship Team
