Women's Track & Field Earns First Indoor National Ranking

USTFCCCA Women's D3 National Team Rankings

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. –
The Ursinus Women's Track & Field team made program history by earning its first indoor national United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) in the first Indoor national rankings of the winter.

The Bears ranked 17th overall in Division III behind gaining 39.03 points and sit as the second highest Metro Region team in the national rankings as Widener sits just ahead in 16th with 43.49. Washington (MO) leads the poll at 170.14 points and Ursinus is the second highest Centennial Conference school as Johns Hopkins sits ninth with 83.38 points. In addition, the Bears were ranked sixth in the Metro Region poll with 169.44 points.

Ursinus earned these ranking spots behind a strong start to the season and behind standout performances through the first three meets of the indoor season. Senior Rainah Dunham has spearheaded the push in these rankings behind recording top-3 national marks in both the triple and long jump. Dunham recorded a mark of 5.83 meters in the long jump last Friday night at the Widener Winter Evening Invite, which ranks third all-time in CC history and third in Division III this winter. Dunham followed that with a 12.50 meter mark in the triple jump, which is second all-time in conference history and second on the Division III performance list. Dunham's performance that ended in a long jump national championship to end the 2024 outdoor season helped the program earn its first ever national ranking between either seasons.

Along with Dunham, the Bears feature multiple athletes in the top five of their respective events in the Centennial Conference. First-year Nadly Gyapong ranks third in both the 60 meters with a time of 7.99 and 200 meters on her best mark of 26.50. Sophomore Sam Wechsler sits fourth in the 60 meter hurdles with her time of 9.48 while junior Amanda Traska is fourth in the high jump at 1.55 meters. The pole vault duo of junior Juniper Bauroth-Sherman and first-year Mia Bompensa are tied for third in the Centennial on their top mark of 3.05 meters and sophomore Hannah Quinn sits fourth in the weight throw at 13.57 meters.

Ursinus continues the season at the Rutgers Scarlet Knight Open held at New York City's Armory starting at 9:30 a.m.
