LIMERICK, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's golf team recorded their lowest team score of the season, while placing third and hosting the "Spring Awakening" tournament on Thursday afternoon.
Six Bears competed at the Turtle Creek Golf Club, a par-72 course that stretches over 5,046-yards. Ursinus earned its season lowest team score of 396 which ranks as the Bears lowest score since totaling a 373 at the Ursinus Invitational in the Fall of 2021. Arcadia won the team title, recording a final tally of 355, while Lebanon Valley (361) placed second, and Ursinus (395) rounded out the top-three in the five-team field.
Sophomore McKenzie Thompson paced the Bears lineup by placing 10th overall, setting a collegiate career-low by signing for a 20-over 92. She recorded three pars throughout her round, signing for a 43 on the front nine, and a 49 over the final nine holes. In the Bears' Fall season invite, Thompson finished with a final score of 104, cutting her score by 12 strokes between the two tournaments.
Senior
Kaylin Chen finished tied for 11th, tallying a final tally of 95. Chen's round was highlighted by four pars over her front nine, entering the halfway mark with an 8-over 44. She ended her round with a 51 over the final nine holes, while making her season debut.
Sophomore
Sophia Cooper shined in her season debut, recording a career-low 98 to place tied for 15th. Cooper collected three pars in her round, with two of them over the first three holes to finish the front nine with a 47. Junior
Payton Fritz placed 23rd overall, finishing with a final score of 111. She signed for a 54 on the front nine and ended her round with a 57 over the final nine holes.
Senior
Elliot Schott (119) placed 25th overall, while classmate
Olivia Bonnet collected a season low score of 137 and took 26th.
The Bears return to action on Tuesday, April 15th as they compete at the Shawnee Golf Club for the Conquer The Island Tournament.
