Johnson was one of the most successful runners in Ursinus Cross Country and Track & Field history. Johnson won the 2008 NCAA Cross Country Mideast Regional individual title, becoming the first and only runner in Ursinus Cross Country history to accomplish the feat. Johnson's regional title also propelled her to becoming the first Ursinus Women's Cross Country runner to compete in the NCAA Championship race. Johnson finished second that same season at the Centennial Championship race after placing first in every prior race during the regular season that the Bears competed in. Johnson was equally as impressive in track & field season as she won gold medals in the mile, 3k and 5k at the 2009 indoor championships.

She is one of three runners in Centennial Conference history to sweep the distance races at the championship meet and was named most outstanding track performer. Johnson followed that by being named the most outstanding track and performer of the meet at the 2009 outdoor championships after winning gold in the 5k and steeplechase.
